I stare at the text, surprised.
I know this address from my younger days when supes were first getting involved in the human business world. One of my faves was this sweets shop near our house. It turns out that pixies do know how to make the best pixie sticks.
Some of the businesses, though, were a bit more sketchy. Not to be judgmental or anythingâIâm a strong believer in to-each-his-own. But this particular place used to be home to some pretty infamous straw parties. They were gatherings where humans willingly opened their veins for vampires, who wandered around with sharp-tipped straws to puncture their new conquests.
Iâm pretty sure that place went under a while ago; the human cops had started performing raids in order to infiltrate and shut down supe businessesâusually on trumped up charges. Itâs awful, but most people had no idea those types of things were going on.
It wasnât until this super shady anti-supe group got raided and all their secrets came out, that people like me realized how much animosity supes faced. Like millions of others across the globe, I marched in the street and demanded change. And it worked. Now there are laws protecting the supes, giving them the same rights as humans. Still, Iâm pretty sure that particular business went bottoms up before they could benefit from it.
And, if Iâm remembering correctly, the area where this particular wharf is located isnât exactly a must-see location. I toss my phone aside, and it knocks over some amethysts gathered on my nightstand.
âSorry,â I apologize to the powers that be. âIâm just really amped up.â
I stare at the giant zodiac ring taking up a foot of space on my bed.
I donât know what to doâbut I know what Iâm going to do. Iâm going to act like a lovestruck fool and drive this heavy, bad-juju-vibes, hunk of metal to my new husband. Iâm going to save his life, even if it means putting mine in danger.
Harmony might not be my favorite person right now with the way sheâs inserted herself into my personal journey of discovery, but Iâd be a fool to ignore her warnings and predictions. Thereâs no doubt in my mind that something fishy is going to go down on that dock, and I mean to go in prepared.
âHarmony!â I yell down the stairs. âDo you have any garlic charged?â
In any other household, it would be a weird question. Here, it makes perfect sense. âYes,â she calls back. âI set it in the sun this afternoon. But that wonât help you!â
âThanks,â I mutter, pulling out my pure linen pantsuit. Linen carries an energy frequency of 5000 megaHertZ, giving energy to your body as you move. Most people wear it because they think it keeps them cooler in the summer, but the truth is that it revitalizes their bodies through its natural frequencies.
Harmony once tried to explain that to some people on Coney Island once, and almost got arrested. Luckily a friendly witch was nearby and she was kind enough to cast a temporary memory spell on the policeman before he could cuff Harmony.
